NEW Improvements

"COMPLETELY
ENCLOSED"
Francis Torq/Lite®
SU-XLSeries Square Drive Unibody Ratcheting
Tools will have completely enclosed aluminum bodies which
is an added safety feature not to mention an added deterrent
to keep dirt and other harmful outside substances from
getting into the tool. The drive plates have been recessed
further back into the tool allowing an aluminum shroud
over the exposed front area of the tool.
|
"ALUMINUM
BODIED TOOLS"
Francis Torq/Lite®
will soon be offering aluminum bodies on most SU-Series
Square Drive Unibody Ratcheting Tools. The new series
will be known as SU-XL SERIES and will be
just as durable and accurate as the SU-Series, but much
lighter in weight, increased reaction area, totally enclosed
and recessed drive train assembly, and much more.

"ALUMINUM
CYLINDERS"
Franics Torq/Lite®
has changed from steel cylinders (IU-Series) to aluminum
cylinders in their new IU-XL Series Inline
Unibody Ratcheting Tools (low profile tool). |

to IU-XL SERIES |
 |
IU-17XL
is one of the new IU-XL Series inline unibody
ratcheting tool being offered. This series will be capable
of approximately 17,100 ft. lbs. at 10,000 p.s.i., ±3%.
The ATF inline ratcheting head sizes will range from 2-3/4"
up to 5-3/8".
|
IU-7XL will be another new IU-XL Series
inline unibody ratcheting tool soon to be offered. This
series will be capable of approximately 7,200 ft. lbs.
at 10,000 p.s.i., ±3%. The ATF inline ratcheting
head sizes will range from 2" up to 3-7/8".

New Improved Design SU-Series
Francis
Torq/Lite® has a new improved reaction member for
the SU-Series Square Drive Unibody Ratcheting Tool which
improves the tools reaction against an adjacent nut
or flat surface preventing torque forces from twisting
or flexing the body.

PRESS RELEASE
Francis
Torque Tools receives ASME Woelfel "Distinguished
Innovation Award" presented at OTC '99.
The
ASME Woelfel Distinguished Innovation Award went to
Francis Torque Tools, Harvey, LA for its RT-Series riser
wrench that allows greater efficiency and personnel
safety in lowering deep water drilling/production riser
to the ocean floor.
The
winner was announced at the Petroleum Industry Leadership
Awards Luncheon, sponsored by the Petroleum Division
of ASME International, on May 5th during the Offshore
Technology Conference, May 3-6, Astrodome Complex, Houston.
Woelfel awards recognize innovations in mechanical engineering
that solve problems, improve a design, or maximize existing
technology.
Following
is an excerpt quoted from the ASME web site regarding
our Riser Wrench:
The challenge for Francis Torque Tools was to design
a single riser
tool that would spin down and torque up riser bolts
in one operation
without removing the riser tool from the flange. The
objective was
to reduce make-up and break-out time drastically, particularly
in the
expanding deep water market. Previously, this task was
accomplished
with an impact wrench and a single operation torque
wrench.
Francis decided to try a combination of newly available
motor designs
and a unique hydraulic approach. They mated a hydraulic
motor to a
newly-designed riser tool wrench and the result was
the RT-Series Riser
Tool. The speed of the new tool allows the user to save
valuable rig time,
often covering the price of the tools in just a few
riser runs.
